Hi. I just sent off an email to you, but with old age (55) bringing with it the senility it does, I figured I'd cover all my bases in trying to come up with some answers (or even clues) to my question: What ever happened to the Pizza Platter Restaurant in Navarre that was home to the best pizza this side of Rome? My husband and I were dating in the early 1970's (contentedly married since 1975 being blessed not only with each other but 5 children and 13 grandchildren-working on number 14 due late this fall). and could treat ourselves to one pizza a week. We had never had pizza that good before or since. We're wondering if any of your listeners or a friend of a friend has ever heard of the restaurant and what happened to it-did it close, change names? Any info would be appreciated, especially if someone knows anything about the family of the original owner. She made her own special sauce from a family recipe. The homemade sauce along with a special blend of cheese is what brought people from far away (don't make me say where they came from 'cause I actually guessed at the far away part, but I'm sure it's true). I think the Pizza Platter closed its doors in the 1990's after the original PIZZA ARTIST stopped creating her masterpieces. The pizzas just weren't the same after that (no offense to whomever tried to fell her hairnet-I'm sure you tried very hard, but there is just no way to compete with perfection, 'cause it's....well....perfect so don't feel slighted-you never stood a chance. See, we old-time cooks know a little secret {even if she had given you the recipe), there's just one little code of ethics we follow when handing over an old family recipe-you got it-leave something OUT! Just think hoe indescribable everything tasted when the first recipe was created! Probably what destroyed the Roman empire and made that tower over there lean. Don.t believe what you read in history books boys and girls. .twas not land, money, lust for power nor great armies that caused problems-it was grandma purposefully leaving something out of a rockin' recipe! PEACE!!
